Temporary Closure of Part of Lake Bled During the World Rowing Masters Regatta 2026

07.09.2026 | General news

From 7 to 13 September 2026, part of Lake Bled will be temporarily closed to boating and swimming due to the World Rowing Masters Regatta 2026.

Around 5,000 rowers from 51 countries will take part in the event, making this the largest World Rowing Masters Regatta to date.

To ensure the safe and smooth organisation of training sessions and competitions, a complete closure of part of the lake will be in place from Monday, 7 September, to Sunday, 13 September 2026. The restricted area includes:

  • the rowing course,
  • the northern and north-western part of Lake Bled,
  • Velika Zaka Bay.

During the closure, swimming and launching from the beach at Velika Zaka will not be permitted.

The closure applies to pletna boats, tourist boats, SUPs and other vessels, as well as swimmers. All visitors and lake users are asked to respect the restricted area and follow the instructions of the organisers. Due to the speed and high number of rowing boats, entering the competition area can be extremely dangerous.

The southern part of the lake remains open

The southern part of Lake Bled, from the rowing course towards Mlino and Vila Bled, will remain open for boating and swimming.

We kindly ask all visitors for their understanding and cooperation in respecting the temporary restrictions, which are necessary to ensure the safe organisation of one of the largest sporting events taking place in Bled this year.

Thank you for your understanding and for following the instructions.
