The Brda region is for Slovenia what Tuscany is for Italy and Provence is for France. A slightly hilly landscape, where the Alpine and Mediterranean world meet, is scattered with vineyards, orchards and olive groves, surrounded by charming Brda villages. This is a land where the soil gives birth to the most noble flavours, be it high-quality Brda wines, excellent olive oils or renowned Brda cherries to which a special celebration is dedicated.

Sentimental souls will fall in love with romantic manors and villas, among which Gredič, Castle Dobrovo and the Vipolže Villa stand out the most. Not to be overlooked is the medieval village of Šmartno, which will enchant you with its romantic streets and characteristic Brda houses. Visit the 23-metres high panoramic tower in the village of Gonjače for an unforgettable view of the Adriatic Sea on one side and the Julian Alps on the other.

The picturesque gorges with the Krčnik natural bridge are one of the natural sites worth visiting. Or maybe the story of Sabotin hill will captivate you, offering relaxing moments in nature and at the same time gives visitors time to think about the absurdity of wars through widespread networks of trenches and caves.
