Vila Bled

Vila Bled, located in the peaceful area of Bled, right on Lake Bled shore, is the largest and historically most important villa among all villas in Bled. In the past the villa was actually a mansion of the Windisch-Grätz family, in 1920 the mansion became the summer residence of the Karađorđević family which was the Yugoslav royal family. After the Second World War, the mansion was demolished and Vila Bled was built at its site. It became the residence of Josip Broz Tito. He hosted many official statesmen, including Nikita Khrushchev, Indira Gandhi and Nasser.

The Belvedere Pavilion is also an important building that stands on 30-metre pillars, designed by Jože Plečnik as the foundations for the new residence. The facility was known as Tito's Tea Room. Vila Bled is now a hotel offering a unique experience in the ambience of the 1950s.
