Monument dedicated to France Prešeren

While walking through the park you can stop at the first monument dedicated to the greatest Slovenian poet.

Monument dedicated to Dr France Prešeren, erected by the Ljubljana literary club in 1883, stands in the park near the road leading to the boathouse and Castle Bathing Area below the parish church. This is the first monument with which the Slovenian nation commemorated the greatest poet.

France Prešeren was born in 1800 in Vrba near Bled. He wrote many exceptional poems, including the Slovenian hymn, "Zdravljica". Due to his important works in Slovenian literature, we celebrate national cultural holiday on 8 February, the date of his death. Prešeren also wrote about Bled in his poems, comparing it with the image of paradise.
