Poglej Church

Visit one of the oldest archaeological sites with a luxurious view.

The Poglej Church is not a church in the true sense of the word. It is actually a cave of glacial origin or rather a rock formation with a smaller cavity near the settlement of Poljšice pri Gorjah. Here, archaeologists discovered stone tools from the older Stone Age. Among more significant recent findings are a bronze coin and a ring, which are displayed in the museum of Bled Castle.

Today, the Poglej Church attracts mainly hikers and climbers. It is a starting point for the Rikli Trail and offers a magnificent view on Gorje and the surrounding area. 34 climbing routes are available on the wall of the Poglej Church, with a difficulty ranging from a 6a to 8b.
