Bled lies in the north-west part of Slovenia, at the foothills of the Julian Alps  and near the confluence of the rivers Sava Bohinjka and Sava Dolinka. It is accessible all year round. Find us:

Railway connections

The railway station Lesce-Bled is located along the railway line Oste (Münich – Salzburg – Villach – Ljubljana – Belgrade – Istanbul – Athens). The railway station is 4 km away from the centre of Bled. Bled can be reached by bus (the Bled bus station is on the opposite side of the railway station), taxi or on foot taking an asphalted road intended for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Bled Jezero railway station lies along the railway line Villach – Jesenice – Nova Gorica – Koper or Gorizia (Italy). It is just 1.5 km away from the centre of Bled and you can walk there, take a taxi or ride the tourist train.

Road connections

Bled is 47 km away from the Austrian border (Wurzenpaß) or Italy (Fusine Laghi – Rateče). To reach Bled you can take the highway (direction Ljubljana) and then the exit toward Bled or you can take the road passing by Blejska Dobrava čez Kočno or the motorway passing by Žirovnica and Lesce to Bled.

Bled is 50 km away from Ljubljana. It is most easily accessed taking the highway or you can take the regional road passing by Medvode, Kranj, Naklo and Radovljica.

Bus connections

The central Bled bus station is located on the north-east part of the lake, 3 minutes walking distance from the lake, at the cross-section of the roads Cesta svobode and Grajska cesta. 

Bled is connected with regular bus lines with the immediate surroundings and all larger cities of Slovenia. There are regular bus rides from Ljubljana going through Kranj and Radovljica.  Buses also operate from the direction of Bohinj and Jesenice.

The operator FlixBus provides long-distance bus services to Bled.

Flight connections

The nearest airport, the Jože Pučnik International Airport Ljubljana (Brnik), is located 36 km from Bled. Bus rides with connections in Ljubljana and direct lines or private transportations via one of the available tourist agencies between the airport and Bled are organised throughout the year.

Distances from other major international airports: Trieste (170 km), Venice (290 km), Zagreb (200 km), Klagenfurt (80 km), Salzburg (230 km), Vienna (380 km) and Budapest (500 km). Bled can be reached by bus, train or private operator. 


Rent a car

Transport around Bled

We recommend that you use sustainable transportation around Bled. If you came to Bled by car, it is best that you park in one of the marked parking lots and take a walk around Bled. You can go on a carriage ride around the lake or take the tourist train or rent an (electric) bicycle.  Do not miss the boat trip to the island with the traditional "pletna" or rent a boat and row there.

In July and August you can take the Hop on Hop off bus and take a trip to Pokljuka (from Bohinjska Bistrica) or Radovljica and Tržič and its surroundings. Shuttle bus in and around Bled.

Bus parking is available on Kajuhova cesta road (by the Mercator Centre Bled). Parking hours: 0:00 - 24:00. Parking fee: €20 for up to 12 hours, €40 for up to 24 hours. Bus stops are at the central Bled bus station, under hotel Krim, at the Bled Castle and in Mlino for passenger getting on and off the bus. 

RV parking is available on Kajuhova cesta road (by the Mercator Centre Bled). Parking hours: 0:00 - 24:00. Parking fee: €25/day. Overnight stays are permitted. Water and electricity included.
