Pokljuka This 1100 m to 1400 m high Karst plateau is covered by dark pine forests and scattered pasture lands. A few villages, such as Gorjuše, Koprivnik and Podelje, and some smaller settlements, are situated on the eastern and southern slopes of the plateau. Castle still graye on the mountains of Praprotnica, Uskovnica, Javornik, the Kranjska valley, Lipanca, Zajamniki and Konjščnica, and you can buy milk, curd and cheese from the local farmers. The Pokljuka plateau ends in a mountain chain which extends from Debela peč (2015 m) through Lipanski vrh (1983), Mali and Veliki Draški vrh (2243 m) to Tošec (2275 m), and are linked to the Triglav mountain chain. In nice weather these peaks afford a magnificent view of Triglav, which rises mightily above the approximately 900 m lower Krma valley. If you decide to conquer one or several mountain peaks, we recommend Blejska Koča (the Bled Hut) on Lipanca (1633 m) as a starting point where your can also spend the night before going further towards the peaks. You can make a tour of the Triglav mountain chain with or without a guide. If your are not interested in mountain tops however, you can rest in the hut and enjoy the tasty homemade available there.
