The Vintgar Gorge, one of the most recognisable and visited natural sights in Slovenia, reopened this Friday, 19 April 2024.

This season, a visit to the Vintgar Gorge will be enriched with a unique experiential and interpretative guided tour, which the Gorje Tourist Board has named Vintgarjenje. The route will consist of a central route through the gorge from the Vintgar Entrance Centre to the exit point at Šum Waterfall, where visitors will choose one of two thematic routes that will lead them back to the starting point. They can choose between the King Triglav Trail and the River of Trees Trail. Both thematic routes are enriched with expert interpretation in the form of guided tours with a guide or audio guide for groups and individuals. The guides are part of the Vintgar Guide Service and will be present in the gorge for the first time this year. Thus, the Gorje Tourist Board will offer a professional, responsible, in-depth and authentic experience of this natural sight of national importance, as well as of the Triglav National Park as the only national park in Slovenia.

In 2024, the Vintgar Entrance Centre will be fully renovated and will also be a space for sustainable education. Regular electric shuttles from the three car parks to the Vintgar Entrance Centre are also available, meaning no more crowds and no more searching for parking spaces. The supporting infrastructure at the exit point at Šum Waterfall has also been renewed.

With the renewed infrastructure, the digitisation of ticket purchases, expert guided tours of the gorge, electric shuttle sustainable transport and the upgrading of the circular route and the inclusion of two thematic trails, Vintgar Gorge is becoming an even more attractive destination for visitors who want to experience the natural and cultural heritage and the diversity of nature in the heart of the Triglav National Park.
