Families will find gentle slopes with child-friendly lifts, while cross-country skiers can enjoy classic routes through the Pokljuka forests at the Triglav Pokljuka Sports Centre, where equipment hire is available. The hut on Uskovnica is open year-round. It stands at the lower edge of the pasture, surrounded by woodland and restored shepherds’ buildings. It offers a quiet place to rest, a simple meal and a starting point for short walks to viewpoints above the pasture.
The landscape stretches widely: to the southwest the line of peaks runs from Možic to Bogatin, while to the north the view reaches Tosc and the ridge above the Velska and Mišeljska valleys. A short climb above the hut leads to the old watering trough beside the shepherd’s hut, where the panorama opens fully over the plateau. Several holiday cottages in the area give the pasture a lived-in feel even in winter. The hut holds the Green Key certificate, which confirms its responsible management of the mountain environment.

Blejska koča on Lipanca stands at 1630 metres, on the south-eastern slope of Lipanski vrh, just above the belt of dense Pokljuka forest. Its position and clear approach make it popular with both experienced hikers and families looking for a safe, relatively short ascent. In the warmer months, the usual starting points are the memorial at Rupe and the car park at the Javornik pasture. In winter, most visitors begin at Hotel Pokljuka, following a steady and well-marked route that remains easy to track even in snow. The hut is maintained, open in winter and offers standard mountain fare.

The sunny, gently sloping meadow between 910 and 980 metres hosts three low-tow lifts named Medo, Bambi and Zajček. Their corresponding slopes are 170, 130 and 70 metres long. The shortest lift stands on the gentlest part of the slope and suits the very first turns of young children. The other two lifts serve slightly longer slopes next to the existing Plana 2 children’s lift. The ski area will operate in the 2026 season once the snow conditions allow for a stable snow base.

The family centre on Pokljuka combines three children’s lifts and two additional lifts, allowing gradual progression across clear and well-maintained slopes. The Jelka ski area is a popular choice for beginners and adults thanks to its calm terrain and two children’s lifts where progress is supported by ski instructors.Near Hotel Pokljuka, the slope suits children who already ski independently, while parents can follow their progress from the terrace of the wooden lodge. This part of the ski area is also suitable for adults and older visitors who prefer a short, less demanding run. The entire centre is easy to access, enjoys a sunny position and offers an organised setting for an active day in the snow.
