“Tepka from Zasip”, story book
A story explaining the journey of the “tepka” pear, from its planting to the dried “prga” form, to young readers.
During her reign, the Habsburg empress Maria Theresa had “tepka” pear trees planted in the area of Bled so that its inhabitants would not go hungry. The pear quickly found its way into Zasip’s culinary offer, playing an important role in the kitchens of the housewives in Zasip. The Zasip Cultural and Artistic Society published a tale by Bojana Pipan, intended to explain the story of this famous pear, from its planting to the dried “prga” form, to different generations of readers, while also uncovering the cultural tradition, habits and customs of this area in an interesting and instructive manner. The story is beautifully complemented by illustrations provided by local artists Nada Radonjič and Metka Rejc.
The monograph is available in Slovenian, English and German.
