“Flavours from Prgarija”, publication
A collection of recipes by the Active of Women from Prgarija to prepare delicious meals using “prga”, the dried “tepka” pear.
When visitors enter the village of Zasip, they are greeted by a board bearing the inscription “Welcome to Prgarija”. This village is namely the home of “prga”, the dried “tepka” pear that housewives used back in the day to prepare various dishes. Today, this tradition lives on with the Active of Women from Prgarija, under the tutelage of master chef Bojana Pipan. The bilingual book “Flavours from Prgarija”, issued by the Zasip Cultural and Artistic Society, is an homage to the “mother” and all other women from Prgarija who have been trying for several years to restore the value that the “tepka” pear once held in the eyes of our ancestors. The recipes collected in this book serve as a proof that numerous tasty dishes can be prepared using simple ingredients.
The publication is available in Slovenian and English.
