Monuments in the Olympic Rowing Centre in Mala Zaka

Walk among the numerous monuments and learn about the history of Bled.

While walking around the lake you can stop at the boathouse in Mala Zaka and vie the bust statue of Boris Kocijančič. He significantly contributed to rowing in Slovenia, was the president of the Rowing Association of Slovenia for many years, he organised the European and World Championships in 1956 and 1966 in Bled and was the initiator of the construction of the only rowing centre in Bled. The monument was made by Slovenian sculptor Stojan Batič.

There is a statue of a boatman only a glance away from the rowing centre. The statue is one of the most beautiful works of Slovenian sculptor Boris Kalin from the period between world wars. A monument, dedicated to a great friend of Bled, Swiss Thomas Keller, also has an honourable place at the boathouse. A monument dedicated to Serbian inventor and physicist Mihajlo Pupin is nearby. Pupin helped Bled to remain part of Slovenia after the First World War.
