Full closure of the Bohinjska Bela–Obrne road

The local road between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne is currently closed while repair works take place. The closure covers the section running between Bohinjska Bela and the village of Obrne.

The closure is necessary to allow the works to be carried out safely. Once the repairs are complete, the temporary traffic signage will be removed and traffic will return to its usual pattern.

The closure is scheduled to remain in place until 31 August 2026.

While the closure is in effect, it will not be possible to travel directly between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne on the local road. This applies to all vehicles, including cyclists.

A signed detour is in place for all vehicles and applies in both directions.

If your journey takes you between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne, please follow the detour signs and observe the traffic signage on site. We'd also recommend setting off a little earlier than usual to allow extra time.

The closure also applies to cyclists

Cycling is not permitted on the closed section of the road. Like other traffic, cyclists are directed onto the signed detour.

As the detour runs along a busier main road, it is best suited to experienced cyclists. Less experienced riders, families with children and recreational groups are advised to choose one of the other cycling routes around Bled for the duration of the closure.

Cycling routes

As the detour road will be busier than usual for the duration of the closure, we ask cyclists to take extra care and drivers to be patient. Cyclists are asked not to ride in long groups, to keep to the edge of the road, and to follow the rules of the road and general road safety guidance at all times.

Access to local villages

Local access to villages will be maintained wherever this is indicated by signage. Access to the works site itself is restricted to contractors, emergency services and other authorised personnel.

Passing through the closed section of road is not permitted, and traffic signage must not be moved or removed under any circumstances.

Change to the Bled Bus Countryside Line

Due to the road closure, the Bled Bus Countryside Line has also been adjusted. The Obrne and Kupljenik stops have been removed from the timetable for the entire duration of the road closure, as the bus is unable to turn safely on this section of the road.
