Algal blooming of Lake Bled

Lake Bled turned red. This is a phenomenon caused by the blooming of lake phytoplankton, algae, which is normally a natural occurrence, but is not a pretty sight. Algae feeds on organic substances that wash from the water catchment into the lake. This year's blooming is the longest and most intensive, also due to a mild winter and plenty of sunny days.
