Juliana long-distance trail opened today

Juliana long-distance trail is a hiking trail in the Julian Alps. It is 300 km long and can be hiked in its entirely or in sections. It connects alpine valleys, pastures and other places in the Julian Alps. Along the trail you will discover the rich cultural and historical heritage and the culinary tradition, learn about the architectural features and discover unknown and hidden corners of this diverse alpine landscape.

The Slovenian national symbol - Mt. Triglav - is right at the centre of the trail in the Julian Alps. And Triglav will accompany you all along the way, showing its many different faces. The trail runs through the unique natural and cultural landscape of the Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO MAB). The trail is suitable for all generations and families.

About the trail:

• The trail has 16 stages. You can choose where to start.
• The trail is 300 km long.
• The average lenght of a stage is 17.5 km, the longest one is 25 km long, but the majority of stages are from 17 to 20 km long.
• The trail runs along the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO MAB) and in Triglav National Park.
• The trail runs around Mt Triglav, the symbol of Slovenehood, our "mystical mountain." While walking the trail, it can be viewed from all possible sides.
• The trail is suitable for families and all generations but requires basic physical condition.
