Accordions at Lake Bled

World Accordion Day is celebrated on 6 May, when Cyrill Demian patented the first accordion in Vienna in 1829. As part of the celebrations, the traditional Golden Accordion Bled Competition will take place in the Bled Festival Hall.

The following day, Sunday, hundreds of accordionists from Slovenia and abroad will gather at Lake Bled. At 12 noon, by Lake Bled, there will be a group performance of accordionists, with the songs Otoček sredi jezera (Island in the Middle of the Lake) by the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble and Čebelar (The Beekeeper) by Lojze Slak. This will be followed by a procession of accordions on the Lakeside Promenade.

Food stalls will offer a variety of Bled Local Selection products. Members of the Bled Tourist Association will be preparing the old Slovenian dish called posmodula
