Children's Summer: Meet the Magical Beasties

The Magical Beasties (Čudežne zverinice), based in the Trgovski Center Bled, are a unique combination of zoo, animal shelter, and educational center. As part of Bled Summer 2025 and its children’s program, these fascinating animals—some of the most common exotic pets, including snakes, lizards, turtles, as well as tarantulas, small mammals, and amphibians—will be making a special appearance at Olimpijski trg.

During the workshop, children will have the chance to pet, hold, and interact with the animals, learning how to handle them properly. They’ll also discover more about their diets, behaviors, and natural characteristics. And yes—they’ll get to see a carnivorous plant devour a fly with their own eyes!

Nika Leben, the founder of Magical Beasties, will share heartwarming stories about the animals and help children overcome fears of spiders and snakes. Before founding the center, Nika spent several years caring for a wide range of animals—many of them rescued exotics, not your typical pets—who needed proper homes and care.

At Magical Beasties, animals are offered a permanent, loving home, staying until they pass away naturally or are placed in a suitable new environment.

Free entry. The event will be photographed and filmed. In case of rain, the program will take place at the Infocenter Triglavska Roža Bled (Ljubljanska cesta 27).
