Lights on the Lake to illuminate Bled Summer once again - Lights on the Lake to illuminate Bled Summer once again - PROGRAM CHANGED, LIGHTS ON THE LAKE CANCELLED

Important update
We are sorry to announce that, due to the bad weather forecast and the increased risk of local thunderstorms, this year’s Lights on the Lake has been cancelled for safety reasons.
However, a shortened music programme will still take place from 8 pm, featuring DJ Maj and saxophonist Jani Šepetavec.
Thank you for your understanding. The Lights on the Lake tradition will return next year.
Bled Summer will once again reach one of its most recognisable highlights with Lights on the Lake. On Saturday, 18 July, the surface of Lake Bled will be illuminated by 10,000 eggshell candles, which have created one of the best-known images of summer in Bled for decades.
As darkness falls over the lake, small lights in eggshells are gently placed on the water. This scene, familiar to locals and visitors from near and far, has become part of Bled’s summer identity.
The tradition dates back to 1972, when the father of today’s master craftsman Andrej Vidic, then a maintenance worker at the Park Hotel Bled, used leftover candle wax and eggshells and floated them on the lake for the first time. Over the decades, this simple idea grew into an event that Bled now regards as one of its most authentic and special summer evenings.
On the day of the event, around 40 volunteers from the local community will place the lights across the lake. This requires considerable knowledge and sensitivity, as the currents must be carefully taken into account so that the lights remain in the centre of the lake and create the characteristic illuminated scene. The day after the event, divers remove the remains and clean the lakebed.

A musical evening on the Lakeside Promenade
The lights will be part of an evening that brings together light, music and summer socialising by the lake. Events on the Lakeside Promenade will begin during the day, while the evening programme will be rounded off by FridayZ, DJ Maj and saxophonist Jani Šepetavec, who will bring a contemporary summer rhythm to the promenade.
Bled Summer with less waste
This year, the summer promenade is introducing a green events concept. Drinks will be served exclusively on tap, with the exception of water, while reusable cups and biodegradable packaging will be used. Biodegradable waste bins will also be placed at the venue.

With these measures, Bled Summer aims to reduce waste and offer visitors a more orderly and responsible summer experience by the lake.
Arrive by public transport, Bled Bus or organised parking
Visitors are encouraged to travel to Bled Summer events by public transport, by bus or by train. Those arriving by car are advised to park at the Central Car Park below Bled Castle or at other designated car parks in Bled.

During the summer, transport is also available with the Bled Bus, which stops at the main bus station and at the main points around the lake. The Radovljica Bus also connects Radovljica with Bled and back, with stops in Lesce, Camping Šobec and River Camping Bled.
Lights on the Lake is an evening that does not imitate the past, but keeps it alive. Lake Bled will once again glow in the light of a local tradition, while the Lakeside Promenade will, for one evening, become a place of music, gathering and the summer rhythm of Bled.
