Bled Among the Global Green Elite: Sustainable Tourism Recognised in Top 100 Green Destinations

Yesterday, the international organisation Green Destinations, which honours concrete examples of sustainable management and transferable solutions, awarded its Top 100 Green Destinations Stories. Among the recipients is Bled, alongside other Slovenian destinations: Bohinj, Bela Krajina, Brežice, Jeruzalem, Ljubljana, Logarska Dolina – Solčavsko, and Miren Kras.

This recognition confirms Slovenia’s ongoing position as a leading country in sustainable tourism. The eight selected destinations demonstrate that it is possible to develop tourism that respects nature, supports local communities, and offers visitors engaging, high-quality, and authentic experiences.

Bled Beyond the Postcard: Multimedia Exploration of Authentic Experiences
In 2023, we launched a multimedia project transforming Bled from “a place to see” into a destination to experience. The initiative combines three key elements: the promotional film Adventure of a Lifetime, The Bled Podcast, and the book Bledology, creating a holistic, authentic, and immersive narrative about the town—rooted in emotion, knowledge, and inspiration.

The Bled Multimedia Project Comes to Life

The initiative supports the destination’s strategic objectives: extending visitors’ stays, encouraging exploration of lesser-known routes, and enhancing the visibility of local experiences associated with the Bled Local Selection brand. The diverse media appeal to a wide audience—visually, audibly, and literarily—ensuring both accessibility and engagement. At the same time, the project contributes to the destination’s sustainability strategy by dispersing visitors across less frequented areas and highlighting local community stories.

Bled has received this prestigious recognition for the third time, following the first award in 2019 and the second in 2020.
