The Blansko Anglers and Their Celebration
Among the active fishing communities in the heart of the Julian Alps is the Blansko Anglers Club, based in Bohinjska Bela. Founded in 2003 by enthusiasts of fishing, nature, and good company, the club’s members see themselves as more than just anglers – they are guardians of nature and bearers of the local cultural heritage. Their activities include fishing events, educational workshops, and gatherings that bring locals and visitors together.
The highlight of the year is undoubtedly the Grand Fishermen's Party and Festival of Fish Delicacies. First held in 2005 and hosted at its current location in Bohinjska Bela since 2008, this year marks the seventeenth edition, with a few interruptions along the way.

Trout, Music and Good Company
The festival kicks off in the morning with a gathering of fly fishermen from across Europe, demonstrating their angling skills and offering visitors the chance to try this popular technique for themselves. The club hasn’t forgotten the youngest attendees either, with children’s workshops and a taste of the local classic dessert – the Bled cream slice.
In the afternoon, the culinary highlight takes centre stage: grilled trout with potato salad, accompanied by live music from singer Buryana and the band Črna Mačka.
The festival is more than just an event; it’s a celebration co-created each year by club members, locals, musicians, and visitors. Join them this year and enjoy a relaxed summer day filled with delicious flavours, music, and genuine angler hospitality – in a true little paradise at Bohinjska Bela.
