Peter Florjančič (1919–2020), who registered around 400 patents and successfully realized 41 of them, is one of the most renowned Slovenian inventors and the only one who pursued inventing as a profession. Among his most famous creations are weaving looms, small plastic injection molding machines, plastic slide frames, and the iconic small perfume atomizers.
In 2020, the cosmopolitan Peter Florjančič returned to Bled, where he had long maintained an office at Hotel Kompas. In 2024, the hotel honored the inventor by naming a conference room after him and opening a temporary exhibition within it, showcasing Florjančič’s achievements and inventions in a vivid and engaging way. Curated by Irena Marušič from the Technical Museum of Slovenia, the exhibition features materials and patents donated by Florjančič himself. To further celebrate his legacy, the hotel café also opened a dedicated exhibition highlighting his life and inventions, preserving the memory of his remarkable contributions.
