Up for a train ride?

The star of this post is the Bohinj Railway, or Transalpina. The construction started in 1900 and was completed six years later, in 1906. The line connected the area of Central Europe with the Adriatic Sea. In Slovenia the Bohinj Railway runs from Jesenice to Nova Gorica, and mayor Janez Fajfar says that from this summer trains might run further to Gorizia, Italy, which means that the line would again be linked to the Italian railway system.

Such a solution would benefit all towns and cities along the line, since Jesenice as well as Bled and Bohinj have repeatedly stressed that the line is underutilized and should be more actively promoted for also tourist purposes. Read more on our blog >
