Bled has hosted as many as four World Rowing Championships and is proud to be the home of two World Champions and Olympic gold medallists in rowing, Iztok Čop and Luka Špik. Velika Zaka and Mala Zaka are bays on Lake Bled, opposite the town centre. Velika Zaka serves as the finish for rowing competitions, the infrastructure for which can be used as a special venue. The stand is ideal for watching races or cultural performances and has a capacity of up to 500, while the VIP lounge in the stand and the umpires’ tower on the opposite shore are suitable for receptions of 100 and 50 guests respectively.
The beach at Velika Zaka can be reached from the centre of Bled by means of a tourist train and is a wonderful location for fun and active get-togethers. The Inter Games Centre offers beach volleyball, basketball, trampolining and several other entertaining games.
Another base appropriate for sporting events is Mala Zaka, which hosts traditional events such as rowing competitions, the triathlon and the 10km summer night run around Lake Bled.
