Bohinjska Bela Bohinjska Bela lies on the left bank of the Sava Bohinjka river, southwest of Bled. The oldest part of the village (from before 1000 A.D) is Spodnja or Dolenja Vas with the parish Church of St. Margaret (sv. Marjeta). The newer part, called Zgornja or Gorenja Vas, was built under the rocky overhanging of Iglica (“the Needle”), and contains the largest number of houses. Above the village lies the smaller village of Slamniki, where a beautiful view can be experienced. The newest part of Bohinjska Bela is Podklanec, with its railway and bus stations.
More than a kilometer away, towards Bohinj, lies the small village of Obrne. If you wish to enjoy a beautiful view of Bled, visit the village of Kupljenik on the right bank of the Sava river. Not far from here lies the entrance to the cave under Babji zob, which can be visited with a guide from the Spelunking Society. Bohinjska Bela offers private rooms, tasty homemade food in inns; in Iglica there is opportunity for alpine climbing, the Sava river offers the opportunity for fishing and other water sports. Bohinjska Bela is also a good starting point for short of long hikes, to mention an example: - a 1256 m high hill, Galetovec, which is considered to have one of the nicest views over the Sava Bohinjka river.
